Tomorrow

The moving truck gets delivered tomorrow! Wow this is starting to move pretty quickly. Everything has to be packed up to go by tonight only leaving what we need for the next WEEK. Good thing we have a big mini-van, all the Christmas gifts and plant's are going to take up a lot of room. We might have to become really domesticated and get a car topper:) Our house is sitting there waiting for us in Texas. It's really quite surreal actually. I have been so busy and so focused on the here and now that I haven't had much time to think about the "later" part. It will probably hit a bit more when we have been there a week and it's time for Mom to go back to Charlotte. The thought is making my stomach do flip flops right now. I have a few more morning calm minutes then it's time to switch into turbo mode, so much to do and so little time to do it!!! Pray for us!

No longer silent!

Hi all, yes it's been a long time since I updated. I am sure you stopped checking up on us. We can finally talk about our plans publicly.

We are moving to Texas in 40 days!!! We started toying with the idea a long time ago. As time has progressed God has made it abuntantly clear to us that this is His plan for us. We visited a few months back and it became even more clear. We started making plans, building a house, sold our house, moved in with my parents, put all of our things in storage. Now our house is nearing completion and we are booking the moving company. Tomorrow Michael and I leave for a whirlwind 2 day trip to TX for job interviews and to have a look at our house before it's move-in day.

God has been so good to us, guiding us every step of the way. Our house sold after only 2 weeks on the market for a nice profit. We have wonderful parents who have rooms to spare for 5 1/2 months so that we can save even more money. It has been pretty clear to us that God is in on this one. Then again he went above and beyond what we ever could have dreamed of. Michael started hearing rumors at work that there would be lay-off's coming maybe in November. We talked it over and decided this would be perfect for us. At the least Michael would get 60 days severance and have 2 months to look for a job in Texas and spend time with us. Long story short, God blew those low expectations out the window and we are praising God for getting laid-off! The severance package was incredible to say the least. This is Michael's first week as a full time student and as a gainfully unemployed person. We are loving it:)

I was warned!

The mantra I have heard from "older and wiser moms" since Megan was born has always been "They grow up so fast! Enjoy her being little!". Well, it is so very true! Today Jacob went down for an early nap so Megan and I had several hours of uninterrupted time together. We sat down and as usual I tried to teach her something only to find out that she already knows it (at least 1/2 of it)! I wrote her name and proceeded to try and help her write it. She said "Mommy, let me do it please". She then wrote an "m" and tried an "e" then was very frustrated that it didn't look right. We spent the next 15 minutes "getting it right" by her standards. It's like she had been waiting for mommy to get a clue and start the ball rolling on letter writing. SHE IS ONLY 2 1/2! I'm not really sure what she is capable of. She doesn't fit the developmental stage description.

So, then we did some pre-k shape matching workbook pages which she breezed through. I really wanted to find something to challenge her a bit. So... Out came the scissors! We spent a while learning how to use them, then she asked to do it by herself. SCISSORS by HERSELF! I am learning right along side her. I have to let her be independent and make mistakes... And let her be frustrated enough to problem solve. Anyway, she cut and cut and cut for 20 minutes or so, then I looked over and she had glued all the cut pieces to a large piece of paper. She brought it into the kitchen and asked for a magnet to put it on the refrigerator. It is proudly displayed!

I love being Megan's mommy! And of course Jacob's too, but this entry was about Megan.

The twirling princess!

Cheeseball baby!

Busy

It's been a while since we updated. Just proves how busy things have been. Michael is in class mon, tue, and wed nights and one weekend a month. He is getting closer and closer to his December graduation! We can't wait!

I have been busy pulling 13 hour shifts with the kids. Let me tell you, it's a lot harder the days Michael has class. Plus, now I am watching a little 10 month old boy mon-wed-fri in the mornings. He is so easy though, he is here from 8:30-1pm and sleeps from 9:30-11:30am then has lunch, plays for a while then mommy comes to get him. Plus he is very sweet and a good sleeper.

We are thinking about putting Megan in ballet classes. We know she would absolutely love it! She is all girl! Dolls, tea sets, dresses, Cinderella, and Pink are her greatest loves. She will twirl until she falls over, then she likes to tell me she is dizzy for the next hour. She has discovered the Disney store at the mall and gasps now every time she sees it. Her Aunt Sarah got the Cinderella movie for her for Christmas and if Megan had her way she would watch it twice each day. Megan is getting smarter each day. When someone asks me how old she is SHE lets them know "My name is Megan and I am 2 1/2. What's your name?" It's always amusing to see the looks of surprise on peoples faces. Oh if they only knew!

Jacob on the other hand is all boy! He says "football" and spikes everything he finds as if he has just scored a touchdown (which he also likes to say loudly while raising his arms over his head.). He makes car and truck sounds while driving his cars and trucks all over everything. He is not gentle with Megan's dolls, they get spiked along with everything else. He loves to dance to "the Wheels on the Bus" and a song on "Polar Express" called Hot Chocolate. Where food is concerned it is one of Jakes major loves. I have to cut him off all the time or I think he would just keep asking for "more peese!!!". He has gotten very good with his sign language. He can sign "more", "please", "down", and "thank you". And now he can say all of them as well. Jake is also into kicking his foot and saying "kick", hopefully he keeps the kicks to the soccerball!
